These terms govern the journeys Far Ridge Collective arranges and the use of this website. Please read them before you confirm a booking. Nothing here removes rights you have under the consumer law of your own country.

About us

Far Ridge Collective is a travel company registered in Nepal, arranging private treks, tours, wellness and wildlife journeys. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Far Ridge Collective, and “you” means the person making the booking and everyone travelling under it.

Enquiries and quotations

We do not publish prices. Every journey is private and built around your dates, group size and requirements, so we quote once we understand what you want. A quotation is valid for the period stated on it and is not a booking.

How a booking is made

A booking exists when you accept a written quotation, pay the deposit we ask for, and we confirm in writing that we have received it. Until all three have happened, nothing is reserved. The person making the booking confirms they are over eighteen and authorised to accept these terms for everyone in the party.

Payment

The deposit and the balance due date are stated in your quotation and confirmation. If the balance is not paid by the date given, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you and apply the charges below. Bank charges and currency conversion costs are yours.

If you change or cancel

Tell us in writing as early as you can. Because journeys are private and we commit to hotels, guides and permits on your behalf, cancellation charges apply and increase as the departure date approaches. The scale is set out in your confirmation.

Permits are issued in your name and are not refundable once obtained. Domestic flight tickets follow the airline’s own rules.

We will always try to move a booking rather than lose it, and where a supplier allows a change without penalty we will pass that on.

If we change or cancel

Occasionally we have to alter a journey. Weather, trail conditions, flight schedules, permit decisions and the health of the group can all require it. Where a change is minor we will tell you and continue. Where a change is significant you may accept it, take an alternative journey we offer, or cancel and receive a refund of what you have paid us for the parts not delivered.

We may cancel for reasons beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, natural disaster, epidemic, civil unrest, government restriction, airport or airspace closure and strike. In those circumstances we will refund what we have not already committed on your behalf and cannot recover. This is why travel insurance is a condition of travelling with us.

Travel insurance is compulsory

You must hold travel insurance for the whole journey. It must cover trekking to the maximum altitude on your itinerary, emergency medical treatment, and helicopter evacuation and repatriation. Many standard policies exclude altitude above a stated height, so check the number rather than assuming.

We will ask for your policy details before departure. We may refuse to carry anyone who cannot show adequate cover, and no refund is due in that case.

Health, fitness and altitude

Our journeys involve walking at altitude, sometimes for several consecutive days. You must tell us about any medical condition, medication or mobility limitation that could affect you or the group, and you should discuss the itinerary with your own doctor before booking.

Altitude illness can affect anyone regardless of age or fitness. Your guide is trained to recognise it and their decision to descend is final. If you or anyone in the party must descend, the rest of the itinerary may be curtailed. We will do what we reasonably can, and the cost of unused services is not automatically refundable.

Passports, visas and permits

You are responsible for holding a valid passport and the correct visa for Nepal. We arrange trekking permits, including the Annapurna Conservation Area permit and the TIMS card, and to do so we need accurate passport details and photographs from you in good time. We are not liable if a journey cannot proceed because the details you gave were wrong or late.

Behaviour and the safety of others

Nepal’s mountains, monasteries and communities are not a backdrop. We ask guests to follow the guidance of their guide and to respect the places and people we visit. If anyone’s behaviour puts others at risk or causes serious offence, we may end their journey with no refund.

Acceptance of risk

Trekking in the Himalaya carries risks that cannot be removed entirely. These include altitude illness, uneven and exposed ground, weather, delayed or cancelled mountain flights, and limited access to medical care in remote areas. By booking you confirm that you understand this and accept those risks.

Our responsibility to you

We will arrange your journey with reasonable skill and care, and we are responsible for the services we agreed to provide. We are not responsible for events beyond our reasonable control, for the acts of third parties unconnected with the journey, or for anything you could not reasonably have expected us to foresee.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

If something goes wrong

Tell your guide at the time. Most problems can be solved on the spot, and a complaint made weeks later is much harder to put right. If it is not resolved, write to [email protected] within twenty eight days of returning and we will respond.

Website content

The text, photographs and itineraries on this website belong to Far Ridge Collective or are used with permission. You may read and share them, but you may not republish them commercially without asking. Guides on this site are researched and cited, and they are general information rather than personal advice for your circumstances.

Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of Nepal, and the courts of Nepal have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country, and you may bring proceedings there.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your booking is the one published when your booking was confirmed.
