Common Questions
The questions guests ask us most often about this journey, on why Chitwan gets four nights, how the elephants are treated and how much of the time is planned.
The wildlife
Because the forest does not perform on demand. Two nights gives you one or two excursions and no margin for bad conditions. Four lets you choose your weather, cover different habitats, and treat a poor morning as unlucky rather than as the whole trip.
Possibly. The 2026 national census counted 145 tigers in Chitwan, so density is high by global standards, but the forest is thick and nobody honest guarantees it. Rhino are a different question: 694 of Nepal’s 752 rhinos live in Chitwan, so sightings are routine.
No. The camp we use keeps its herd chain free and does not offer riding. Guests walk in the jungle alongside the elephants while they browse, join the fodder collection and watch them bathe. Viewing in the park is by vehicle with a naturalist, on foot with an armed guide, and by boat.
Pace and structure
Less than most. Two full days have nothing planned at all, one in the jungle and one in Pokhara, and several afternoons are deliberately left open. Guests consistently name those as the days they would keep.
Four times in twelve days, which is unusually few for an itinerary crossing this much country. There are no transit nights.
No. The walking is gentle and optional throughout, and the journey stays low. Anyone reasonably mobile manages it comfortably.
Timing and practicalities
February to April is strongest. The Terai grass is short so animals are easier to find, and the mountain views from Pokhara and Dhulikhel are still reliable. October and November give the clearest mountains but taller grass in the jungle.
A heritage hotel in Kathmandu, a jungle lodge in the Chitwan buffer zone, a ridge lodge outside Pokhara, and a wellness retreat above Dhulikhel. Options are offered at each, and the choice is yours.
Yes. Guests add jungle nights, swap the Pokhara days for more wellness, or extend the Dhulikhel section. Tell us early and it shapes the plan rather than being bolted on.
