Dwarika’s Sanctuary, Dhulikhel
Dwarika’s Sanctuary sits at 1,550m on twenty two acres above Dhulikhel, about an hour from Kathmandu and just beyond Bhaktapur. It is a dedicated wellbeing retreat rather than a resort that happens to have a spa, and the whole property is arranged around that.
Worth knowing before you choose it
The programme is the point. Guests who want a hotel with a good spa attached will find the structure here more committed than they expected, because the stays are built as multi-day immersions rather than as nights with treatments booked against them.
It is an hour from the city, so the Kathmandu monuments are a day trip rather than a walk. That is the trade for the ridge and the quiet.
The Himalaya shows along the northern skyline on a clear morning and disappears entirely on a poor one. October to November and March to May are the reliable months.
The property
Forty all-suite villas, each with mountain views. The Pancha Kosha Himalayan Spa is the centre of it, with treatments drawn from Ayurveda, Buddhist medicine and local Himalayan practice, using herbs grown on the spa’s own grounds or sourced from across the range.
